Magpul SL Grip Module – HK94/93/91 & Semi Shelf HK Clones Converted For MP5K-Type Weapons – MKE, Zenith, etc.

Lead time for this  product is 2-3 weeks after ordering.  On hand reflects the number of base grips I have that can be converted and not actual ready-to-ship units.

I noticed there aren’t a lot of grip options for the MP5K-type pistol when I bought my new Zenith ZF-5P and later a Century MKE AP5-P.  I did some digging and guys mentioned converting the Magpul “SL Grip Module for HK94/93/91/MP5 & Semi Shelf HK Clones” (Part number MAG1070-BLK) over for use on their MP5Ks.  Well, I converted one over for my Zenith first and liked it so much I did one for the MKE second.  So, I started making them for others.

These grips will be in the ballpark for where you need the holes.  The reliefs for the pin heads on original grips are around 9.5mm wide.  I am using a 10mm end mill to cut the relief so you have some more room to make adjustments and still have your pin seat hopefully.

As part of this, the grip only needs the top rear pin.  The front will sit on the semi shelf, the back will be pushed against whatever you have mounted at the end of firearm – cap, brace, or stock.  To be clear, you do need the semi shelf – there is no front pin or way to mount a front a pin.  The grip is cut so it will fit tight and you may need to file a bit on the rear to get the end cap on so test and remove as little material as possible.

Attention HK SP5K owners – Magpul reports that SP5 owners (and my bet is that it will apply to you also) will need to carefully remove about 0.005″ to 0.010″ from the bottom of the locking plate/interface plate on the front of the grip.  That amount translates to a very small amount so use a fine file, take off a bit and try to test fit the grip by trying to fully install it.  A fine file or whatever tool you are comfortable with will work – just don’t take off too much because you want a firm mount in the front.  When this is fit correctly, the grip will fully push on to the semi-shelf.  If not, the semi-shelf on the SP5K will not fit into the hole.

To get the top pin in, you will likely need to use a circular file to adjust the hole.  I recommend using a 6mm tapered file so you can adjust accordingly.  If you click this link, a new tab will open with a link to the file at Amazon.

You will need to do the final fitting for your specific firearm – again, filing the rear shorter if needed and adjusting the takedown pin holes.
