This is our Yugo M72B1 RPK handguard set (both the lower and the upper). It is cast in our high-temp glass fiber reinforced plastic and it will not require a ferrule because the M72 ferrules are unique, you will not find them anywhere and our plastic doesn’t really need them so we eliminated them.
These handguards will require fitting. Do not buy this set if you aren’t comfortable with this – it is not a drop-in part. The plastic is like a hardwood – it doesn’t give or bend – it will crack under point loads. You need to sand or file the upper and lower so they fit square and snug. If you do that, they will last and last – just don’t try to force them into place. The key is to be patient – remove a little and test fit over and over until each part goes on.
Please note that these are for the M72B1 stamped receiver version of the rfile and will not fit the older M72 milled receiver model. (I really appreciate the help of a very patient customer who took the time to send me photos of the differences.)
This set is colored black and is in our blasted matte finish for a sure grip.
Total weight is about 6.2 ounces.
Because we are using a thick original wood handguard as our master, our plastic will be very well positioned to handle heat. In general, the thicker the walls, the better.
We do not drill the cleaning rod hole. This is something you will need to do if you want it.

They’re nice and smooth, as for any people who don’t know. When buying ANY… other Ak part, they do require some minor fitting and a little material to be removed. Took about 10 minutes. Over all really happy with the product, no gaps and looks like it came with the rifle!
