These are high quality, high reliability magazines for Armscor Rock Island Armory (RIA) High Capacity HC A2-style 9mm pistols, such as the RIA 51679 Tac Ultra FS and 56645 Pro Match.  Specifically, these are for the A2 HC pistols that use the 17 round 54180 magazine and are designed for smooth reliable feeding. They are not for the traditional 8-round 1911 pistols (I would recommend Wilson Combat or Tripp Cobras if you have one of those pistols and lots of websites carry one or the other).

This listing is for one magazine – it does not include any pistols, frames, ammunition, etc.

These mags hold 10 Rounds and have a blued finish.  These mags hold 10 Rounds and have a blued finish.  These magazine tubes are dimpled at the factory to limit capacity to 10 rounds and can be disassembled.  We do sell 19 round magazines with a block and the base plate secured by an aluminum pop rivet preventing disassembly.  These mags are specifically made for shooters in locales that require a 10 round limit.  Again, these are different from our other 10 round magazines due to the dimples pressed in at the factory – they are the “dents” you see in the sides of the tubes in the photos. Less work for us means lower prices for you.

These v3, or third generation mags, reflect our lessons learned thus far when it comes to mags for the 9mm RIA pistols.  We start with Mec-Gar 9mm P18 magazine tubes,  verify the feed lip gap is right and tune if needed for the ramped RIA pistols.  We then apply a ceramic dry lube to the inside surface of the tube.  The Mec-Gar follower and spring were retained so the slide does lock open on empty.  Because these are 9mm mags from the start, the rounds are properly stabilized – no extra work like our v2 mags required.

These are compatible with Para Ordnance or “Para” style P18 magazines.  If you have a pistol that uses Para style magazines, these should work with them.  I would recommend searching the web to confirm if Para style mags work directly in your pistol or require modification. The mag lips are short so the round is not fully supported – RIA pistols do not require that for example.  If your model of pistol requires the cartridge to be fully supported, these will not work.

You can choose whether you want a Dawson base plate (which you need for the pistol to work with a Rock Island A2 HC funnel or if you want the original Para-style base plate.  Only pick the Para plate if you plan on replacing it with another model – the Para base plate will not fit in your Rock Island.  I added this option because some guys already own base plates or plan to use a Taylor Freelance extension and don’t want to pay extra for the Dawson.

Please ALWAYS Test Your Magazines

I do have something I want every reader/buyer to remember:  PLEASE Always test the magazines before you need to rely on them – you must verify that a given combination of pistol, ammo and magazine are reliable and this is true for any firearm. My liability is limited to the purchase price of the magazine and they are warranted against manufacturing defects only (not including any required feed lip tuning) for 90 days.

Do you have a brand new pistol?

A brand new RIA pistol will have feeding problems right out of the box because it does need to wear in and this may take 100-200 rounds.  When you get a new RIA pistol, be sure to clean and lube it.  I would then recommend cycling the slide a few hundred times (literally) to help smooth things out before you get to the range the first time.   It may still have some feeding problems after this but they will be a lot fewer.  By the way, the need to wear in or break in is very common in firearms so don’t get discouraged right away.
